Important Notices

  • Satellite telephone services are not permitted in India

    This is to inform all concerned including foreigners visiting India that satellite telephone services are not permitted in India. Unauthorized use of handsets of Thuraya, Iridium and other such satellite operators are not permissible under Indian law. People, including visitors to India, found to be making use of satellite telephone services will be prosecuted and all sets found in possession of any individual will be seized.

  • Online Visa Application Implementation - all types of Visa

    From 05 September 2011 onwards, it is mandatory for all applicants who wish to apply for any type of visa to fill the application form online.

  • Online Visa Application Implementation - Tourist Visa

    All applicants who wish to apply for a Tourist Visa to India will now have to and can only apply online. All applicants are kindly requested to fill the online application form at least one day before the submission at India Visa Application Centre.

    The online visa application system will be started from 11 August 2011. It is mandatory to complete tourist visa applications through the new system before submission at the India Visa Application Centers.

    When filling the Online Form, do ensure that all details entered are accurate. The option to edit text is not available once the form has been saved and printed. In such cases a new Form would need to be made with all correct information entered.

  • The application forms should be completed in all respects and should be signed by the applicant himself. Incomplete applications or those signed by a proxy will not be accepted. Applications can be submitted in person by the applicants themselves or through their representative/s.

  • Important Notice for Visa Applicants: The India Visa Application Centre, on behalf of the Embassy of India - Beijing, accepts visa applications directly from the applicants as well as through their representatives, including travel agents. It is hereby clarified that the Embassy attaches equal importance to all the applications and does not give any preference to those received through the travel agents.

  • Tourist Visa on Arrival:
    Nationals of Japan, Singapore, New Zealand, Finland, Luxemberg, Laos, Cambodia, Phillipines, Vietnam, Indonesia and Myanmar are eligible for “Tourist Visa On Arrival (TVOA)” for India.

    The TVOA is single entry one and is granted for stay in India for a maximum period of 30 days.

    It is limited to two times in a calendar year and there should be a gap of minimum of two months between successive visits.

    Immigration officers at international airports in New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai only ( not at any other immigration check post) are authorized to grant TVOA.

    The fees prescribed for the same is US$ 60/- only.

    The TVOA facility is available only to the private passport holders of the above mentioned countries. Holders of Diplomatic/Official passport holders are required to visa before hand, unless they are exempted under any other bilateral/multilateral arrangement.

  • Tourist Visa Advisory : This is for information that there should be a gap of at least 2 months between two visits to India on a Tourist Visa. In case of requirement to visit India within 2 months, permission should be sought from the Indian Embassy in Beijing directly without going through the India Visa Application Center , Beijing . Where permission is accorded in such cases, registration with the local FRRO/FRO would be required within 14 days of arrival in India. click here for the Request form. Processing time of the request will be 3-4 working days.
    However, those holding Tourist Visas, who after initial entry into India plan to visit another country and re-enter India before finally exiting, could be permitted more than one entry, as the case may be, subject to their submission of a detailed itinerary and supporting documents i.e. confirmed Air tickets.
    In view of the change in the Tourist Visa procedure, Government of India has fixed RMB Ninety (RMB 90) as Miscellaneous Charge for according permission to re-enter India within Two months of last exit. As per the India Visa Rules, an applicant cannot hold two valid visas at the same time. Incase the applicant already has a valid visa on the passport she/he has to cancel the old visa at the Indian Embassy before applying for a new visa.

  • All applicants and agents are notified that as per the instructions given by the Indian Embassy the India Visa Application center will NOT accept applications with Scanned or photocopied Invitation Letters. Only ORIGINAL or FAX invitation letters will be accepted.

  • Important notice for all business and employment visa applications: Business Visas will only be issued to those Chinese Applicants who want to visit India to establish an Industry & Business venture or to explore possibilities to set-up such a venture, or who wish to purchase or Sell products in India.

    All applicants executing projects or contracts will have to apply for Employment Visa.
    Employment Visa will only be granted for skilled & qualified professionals or to applicants who are being engaged or appointed by a company/organization/industry or undertaking in India on Contract or Employment basis at a senior level, skilled position such as technical expert, senior executive or Managerial position.
    Employment visa will NOT be given for routine/ordinary secretarial or clerical jobs.

    All applicants going for projects and contracts in India should apply for EMPLOYMENT VISA and NOT for BUSINESS VISA.
    The Applicants applying for Employment visa in China should also apply at Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Foreign Division in Delhi, India. They can apply either through their representative in India or through their Indian Company with which they have signed the Contract with.

  • In accordance with the Indian Visa regulations, application for a fresh visa or any other type of visa cannot be considered before the previous application has been disposed off. Therefore, the applicants are advised not to submit application for any category of visa, if their earlier application is pending with the Embassy. The above applies to those applicants as well, who have already applied for Employment Visa or Project Visa and wish to apply for Business Visa simultaneously during that period.

  • Foreign Journalists: are requested to apply online under Non-Accreditation category on or Before 25th March 2009 and route their applications through Publicity Division of Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), New Delhi (Website - www.mea.gov.in).   • Referral Form: As per the instructions given by the Indian embassy starting 10th December 2008, ALL foreign nationals applying for a visa to India will have to fill the "REFERRAL FORM" and pay the additional referral fee of 100RMB.

  • Starting 11 Aug 2011 all applicants and agents are advised that the India Embassy will only accept recent 5cm x 5cms, front pose, full face photograph where the ears are visible in white backdrop.
