Important Notices
- Holidays during January 2012
Dear applicants, please kindly be advised that India Visa Application Centre (IVAC) will remain CLOSED respectively on the following holidays in January 2012:
23 January (Monday, Chinese New Year), and 26 January (Thursday, Republic Day)
IVAC will be regularly opened on the other weekdays in January.
Any inconvenience caused regretted.
- As per the instructions given by the Consulate General of India, Guangzhou, starting 10 December 2008, ALL foreign nationals applying for a visa to India will have to pay the additional referral fee of 100RMB.
- Notes to Travel Agents
In the part of “applicant contact details” on the online visa application form, the applicant is required to fill the personal contact number on the online application form. The visa application form containing agent contact number instead of applicant contact number can not be accepted at India Visa Application Centre. (Effected from 22 December, 2011)
The Travel Agents should advise the businessmen, approaching them for arranging invitation letters for their business visa applications, to approach directly the India companies of interest to them for obtaining such letters. In case of Government officials and other service passport holders, they should advise them to approach the Consulate directly with the details of their planned visit to India to coordinate further arrangements.
Henceforth, if any Travel Agent is found in violation of the above regulation, the VFS will cease to deal with them in any manner and that particular Travel Agency will be immediately blacklisted. In addition, visa shall also be denied to such applicant(s) without any claim of fee refund.
- Satellite telephone services are not permitted in India
This is to inform all concerned including foreigners visiting India that satellite telephone services are not permitted in India. Unauthorized use of handsets of Thuraya, Iridium and other such satellite operators are not permissible under Indian law. People, including visitors to India, found to be making use of satellite telephone services will be prosecuted and all sets found in possession of any individual will be seized.
- Important Notice for Applicants for On-line Visa Applications
From 22 August, 2011 it will be mandatory for all applicants, who wish to apply for a Tourist Visa to travel to India, to submit their applications online only.
Applicants of other visa type would continue to apply in the existing format till 31 Aug, 2011 only.
From 1 Sep, 2011, ALL visa applicants need to apply online for all types of visa for India.
Guideline for on-line form is provided for applicants' reference and convenience..
As per instruction given by Consulate General India Guangzhou, the proposed new system does NOT support the issue of Group Tourist Visa. Hence the applicants are advised to submit the Individual Tourist Visa with effect from August 22, 2011. Please be kindly informed that Checklist for Tourist Visa (For Foreign national) has been updated.
Please log-on to http://indianvisaonline.gov.in/visa/ to fill your online application form. After submitting the application form, please print the completed application form and submit it at the India Visa Application Centre (IVAC) in Guangzhou as usual along with all the supporting documents.
- Guideline for applicants:
- The photograph required for the new online application is 2 inchX2 inch (5cmX5cm) with white background.
- When filling the Online Form, please do ensure that all details entered are accurate. The option to edit text is not available once the form has been saved and printed. In such a case, a new form need to be filled again with all correct information entered.
- You can use either an Ink-Jet or Laser printer to print the completed Visa Application Form once you have submitted online. This site is best viewed in Internet Explorer (Windows) version 8.0 and above
- You must also have Adobe Acrobat Reader version 7.0 or a higher version installed on your PC in order to download and print the completed application form. If you do not have Adobe Acrobat Reader version 7.0 or a higher version, you may download a copy by clicking here
- Once you have completed your online application form, please sign it and present it along with the supporting documents and passport to our Visa Application Centre in Guangzhou.
- The application forms should be completed in all respects and should be signed by the applicant himself. Incomplete applications or those signed by a proxy or containing incorrect information are liable to rejection without any claim for fee refund. Applications can be submitted in person by the applicants themselves or through their representative/s.
Mandatory Requirements & Terms of Use
Please keep the following Information available before you start filling the on-line application:
- Your current and valid Passport.
- Relevant supporting documents based on your Visa Category.
- Email address.
- Mobile phone or alternate Landline telephone number.
Once you Click Here and start your application, it will be presumed that you have agreed that we may immediately commence processing your application and providing any services.
- Applicants who apply for India Visa are requested to submit the application:
1) With clear purpose of travel mentioned in detail on visa application form.
2) Near to the date of travel.
(Applications made more than one month in advance will NOT be accepted at the Visa Application Centre)
- India Visa Application Centre Guangzhou: CONSULATE GENERAL OF INDIA HAS NOTICED THAT SOME APPLICANTS CONCEAL THEIR REAL PURPOSE OF VISIT IN THEIR VISA APPLICATIONS. THIS IS TO NOTIFY THAT IN CASES WHERE THE CONSULATE IS CONVINCED OF CONCEALMENT OF PURPOSE BY THE APPLICANTS, THEIR APPLICATIONS WILL BE REJECTED AND VISA REFUSED WITHOUT ANY NOTICE.

- Important Notice regarding BUSINESS VISA
Companies applying for Business Visas for foreigners other than Chinese nationals should specify in the dispatch letter whether such employee has been resident in China for more than two years. Please indicate the exact date from which they are working in China.
In cases where the period of permanent residence of the applicant in China is less than two years, the applicants will be required to provide details of residence, either in their country of origin or any other country where they have been residing for more than two years before coming to China. They will be required to go for an interview at the Consulate General of India before submitting visa applications in the Visa Application Centre. Visas will be issued only after clearances are received by the Consulate from their country of origin or country of domicile prior to coming to China.
- Notice Regarding Employment Visa Applications:
Starting 13 OCT 2009, all applicants applying for work visa MUST get a letter from the Indian company to certify that the job the applicant is going that specific skill is not available in India. PLEASE NOTE: Without the submission of this letter the India Visa Application Center will NOT accept the Visa Application.
All Applicants going to work on project/contracts in India should apply for EMPLOYMENT VISA instead of BUSINESS VISA.
Consequent upon acceptance of Employment Visa application by the Consulate, the applicants should submit one set of their visa application with E.V. Ref. No. (to be provided by
Consulate) to Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Foreigners Division, Jaisalmer House, 26, Man Singh Road, New Delhi through their Indian Representative or Indian company with whom they are going to work.
- Introduction of “Tourist Visa-on-Arrival”: To facilitate bonafide foreign tourists who plan their tours at a short notice, Government of India has decided to introduce “Tourist Visa-on-Arrival” for citizens of the following countries viz. Finland, Japan, Luxembourg, New Zealand, Singapore on an experimental basis w.e.f. 1.1.2010, and extended the "Tourist Visa-on-Arrival (TVOA)" scheme to tourists from Cambodia, Vietnam, Philippines, Laos w.e.f 1 January, 2011. Tourists from the said countries can also procure their visas from the Missions / Posts in the normal course. The said “Tourist Visa-on-Arrival” with a maximum validity of 30 days with single entry facility shall be granted by the Immigration Officers at Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata airports to start with.
The grant of a “Tourist Visa-on-Arrival” shall be regulated as per the guidelines prescribed in the Visa Manual.
- Important Notice for Visa Applicants: The India Visa Application Centre, on behalf of the Consulate General of India - Guangzhou, accepts visa applications directly from the applicants as well as through their representatives, including travel agents. It is hereby clarified that the Consulate attaches equal importance to all the applications and does not give any preference to those received through the travel agents.
- Consulate general of India has noticed that some applicants conceal their real purpose of visit in their visa applications. This is to notify that in cases where the consulate is convinced of concealment of purpose by the applicants, their applications will be rejected and visa refused without any notice.
- Notice Regarding Employment Visa Applications: All Applicants going to work on project/contracts in India should apply for EMPLOYMENT VISA instead of BUSINESS VISA.
Consequent upon acceptance of Employment Visa application by the Consulate, the applicants should submit one set of their visa application with E.V. Ref. - Important notice for all business and employment visa applications: Business Visas will only be issued to those Chinese Applicants who want to visit India to establish an Industry & Business venture or to explore possibilities to set-up such a venture, or who wish to purchase or Sell products in India. All applicants executing projects or contracts will have to apply for Employment Visa.
Employment Visa will only be granted for skilled & qualified professionals or to applicants who are being engaged or appointed by a company/organization/industry or undertaking in India on Contract or Employment basis at a senior level, skilled position such as technical expert, senior executive or Managerial position.
Employment visa will NOT be given for routine/ordinary secretarial or clerical jobs.
- Applicants who apply for any type of Indian Visa can NOT apply for another type of Indian Visa while the application is still being processed. Applying for more than one type of visa at the same time by the same individual might result in refusal of visa.
The visa fee and service fee will NOT be refunded either by the Consulate or the India Visa Application Centre if the applicant withdraws visa application afterwards. The fees can only be refunded between 8 am to 3 pm on the same day the application is submitted.
