Q.1 Do I need a visa to visit India?
Ans Yes, all foreign nationals travelling to India must have a visa.
However Nationals of Bhutan are however exempted from the visa requirement.
 
 
Q.2 How do I make an application for a visa to visit India?
Ans All applicants must submit their application at the India Visa Application Centre. All Applicants residing and working in the provinces of Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan, Hunan, Sichuan and Yunnan are requested to submit their visa applications at the India Visa Application Center in Guangzhou. All applicants residing and working in the provinces of Shanghai, Zhejiang and Jiangsu are requested to submit their applications at the India Visa Application Centre in Shanghai. The applicants who are not from the above mentioned provinces are requested to submit their applications at the India Visa Application Centre in Beijing
 
 
Q.3 Will the Embassy accept documents which are not in English?
Ans The Visa Application form needs to be filled in Block Capital letters in English. Embassy requests all the supporting documents also to be in English only.
 
 
Q.4 What supporting documents should I submit?
Ans The relevant supporting documents are mentioned in the checklist for each Visa Category.
 
 
Q.5 My application and passport have been submitted and it has been a while, how can I enquire about the status of my application?
Ans The applicant can track their Visa Application on-line with the link provided on the website.
 
 
Q.6 Can my friend in India apply for my visa?
Ans No, the applicant must apply for a visa in China.(where the applicant is residing at the time of submitting as per the jurisdiction policy and the Embassy rules and regulations )
 
 
Q.7 I am a foreigner living in China and will go to India for a private visit, Do I have to provide a letter from my company/school.
Ans Yes, It is mandatory document. Incomplete application can not be accepted at India Visa Application Centre.
 
 
Q.8 Do I have to book the return air ticket before receiving the Indian visa?
Ans Yes. Air ticket booking has to be provided however we strongly suggest not purchasing the air ticket before receiving the visa.
 
 
Q.9 How long will my visa be valid for?
Ans The validity of the visa depends on the category of visa applied for which is solely at the discretion of the Indian Embassy.
 
 
Q.10 Will the visa fees be refunded?
Ans No. (The visa fee and the service fee (165 RMB) are both "non-refundable". If the applicant wants to withdraw his application the visa and service fee will NOT be refunded either by the Embassy nor the India Visa Application Center. The fee can only be refunded on the same day the application was submitted. The applicant in order to get the refund of the visa and service fee will have to withdraw the application on the same day of submission between 8 am-3 pm. There will be no refund after 3 pm on the same day of submission of the visa application.)
 
 
Q.11 How do I know when my passport is ready for collection from the India Visa Application Centre?
Ans You can track your visa application on-line. Please keep checking the status on-line at our website www.vfs-india.com.cn with entering the applicant’s last name and the passport number.
 
 
Q.12 Can I collect my passport from the Embassy of India?
Ans No, the applicant can either collect the passport from the application centre or can opt for courier services at the time of submitting the application by paying an additional cost for courier service of RMB 50 per application.
 
 
Q.13 Do I have to submit my passport at the India Visa Application Centre only?
Ans Yes, all applicants will have to submit the application at the India visa application centre India Visa Application centre is officially authorized by the Embassy of India in Beijing to accept applications for all categories of visas and return the passports to applicants holding ordinary/private passports and residing in the Jurisdiction.
 
 
Q.14 Can I mail my visa application and passport to the Embassy of India?
Ans No .Applications can only be submitted in person or can be sent through representatives
 
 
Q.15 How do I make the payment for visa charges?
Ans All payment are to be made in Cash
 
 
Q.16 Can I apply at any of the IVACs?
Ans No, the applicant needs to apply at his local Visa Application centre in the jurisdiction.
 
 
Q.17 What is referral fee?
Ans The referral fee is applicable for foreign applicants only. It’s an additional amount of RMB 100 per application charged by Embassy to get the clearance from the Embassy from their country of origin or country of domicile prior to coming to China.
